A Year of Data Driven Health Optimization

A Year of Data Driven Health Optimization
Superpower Dash

TL;DR

For years I was tired, gaining weight, and blaming it on getting older. Labs through Superpower membership showed my testosterone was far lower than expected. Since then, I’ve used AI-based tracking, hormone therapy, and GLP-1 treatment to rebuild my health.

In the past year:

  • Testosterone increased from 174 ng/dL to an optimal range
  • Weight dropped from 245 lb to 210 lb
  • Inflammation and metabolic markers normalized
  • Energy, focus, and mood improved more than I thought possible

It hasn’t been easy or perfect, but it completely changed how I think about aging and data.

The Wake-Up Call

I’ve spent most of my adult life behind screens. First in datacenters, later supporting startups. Between long hours and family life, health quietly slid down the list. When I joined Superpower.com as an engineer, I received free access to quarterly biomarker testing and assumed it would be routine.

It wasn’t.

The results showed extremely low testosterone. My doctor had never mentioned it, so I had no idea. That single number explained so much: constant fatigue, irritability, and the slow loss of drive I’d blamed on age.

I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and fine tuned the dose until I reached the optimal range. Within a few months I felt sharper, calmer, and motivated again.

Fixing the Bigger Picture

Once testosterone improved, I realized the rest of my health still needed work. My cardiometabolic and inflammation markers were out of range (blue on the chart history).

I followed the suggestions from my action plan: cleaner food, consistent sleep, and supplements like vitamin D, zinc, omega-3s, and methylated B vitamins. By the next round of tests, most results had shifted from “high normal” or “out of range” to “normal” or “optimal.”

Weight Loss and GLP-1 Therapy

In June 2025 I started GLP-1 therapy through Superpower. I’d been stuck at a BMI of 32 and couldn’t break through. GLP-1 helped me reset my appetite and lose fat without fighting constant cravings.

I’m now 210 pounds with a BMI of 27.9, and I’ve been able to shift my focus to strength and muscle gain instead of just weight control.

How AI Fits In

My favorite part of this entire process is the AI system that analyzes every new blood test and updates my plan automatically. It recommends adjustments to nutrition, supplements, and habits as my biomarkers evolve.

Each test comes with a prioritized action plan showing exactly what to improve next.

My favorite feature is the builtin chat. It lets me ask about trends or compare past results, and it remembers everything from intake forms, action plans, to lab panels so every answer has context.

That level of feedback keeps me consistent and curious about how my biology responds to small changes.

Whats Next

Most of my key biomarkers are now in healthy ranges, but I’m still refining the details. I’ve become hooked on improving my biological age and dialing in the few markers that still have room for progress.

Over the next few months, I’ll share another update. I'll focus on things like inflammation control, homocysteine, allergies and sleep optimization.

If there’s something specific you’d like me to dig into for that write-up, let me know in the comments for by replying to the news letter.
